Vitamin B12 and Senior Moments

As we get older, our bodies don't absorb vitamin B12 as readily as they did during our younger years (B12 is found in animal foods - meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy products). And this decreasing absorption may help explain why brain size shrinks with age and seniors develop problems with thinking. Researchers in Chicago checked blood levels of B12 in 121 seniors taking part in the Chicago Health and Aging Project. The investigators also measured vitamin B12 in five metabolites that are considered markers for B12 activity; a protocol, which they said, could give a fuller picture of B12 status. The seniors were asked to complete 17 tests to assess their memory and thinking skills.

More than four years later, the study participants underwent MRIs to measure brain volume and to look for other signs of brain atrophy. The research team found that low levels of B12 in the metabolites were associated with poorer thinking skills and smaller brain volume. Because the study was a small one, the investigators said their results must be confirmed by additional research, and cautioned against making dietary changes based on their results. The study was published in the September 27 issues of Neurology.

My take? It is interesting that these researchers concluded that testing B12 levels in the blood isn't enough to assess its activity in the body, but this is not the first study to associate low levels of B12 with negative changes in brain anatomy and function. A study published in 2008 suggested that seniors with the highest levels of B12 were six times less likely to exhibit brain atrophy than participants whose B12 levels were lower. I recommend that everyone over 50 years of age consume vitamin B12-fortified foods, take a vitamin B12 supplement, or take 50 mcg of B12 as part of a B-complex that contains a full spectrum of B vitamins, including biotin, thiamine, B12, riboflavin and niacin.

Make your skin attractive naturally

Will you believe that skin is one of the largest and most complex organs of the human body, containing oil glands, nerves, hair follicles, blood vessels and sweat glands As well as protecting our body from the environment, our skin also regulates our body temperature and helps to fight off infections. It is very useful in preventing us from weather changes. We can easily look after our skin through maintain healthy foods and balanced diet, doing regular exercises and a bit of life style changes helps in protecting ourselves from harmful UV rays, cutting out smoking, drinking plenty of water and ensuring we regularly get a good night's sleep. Lack of a good night's sleep can seriously damage your skin and leave it looking tired. The amount of sleep required varies from person to person but the average person needs between 7 and 8 hours a night.

Skin is typically one of three types: oily, dry, or both. It's usually easy to determine which skin type you have. If you don't know how to tell your skin type, ask a professional. The women in your life will probably be more than happy to help you figure out what kind of skin you have. If you don't feel comfortable asking them, ask for help at a skin care counter in your favorite department store-but beware: this route usually comes with a sales pitch! Knowing the types of skin you have will help you choose the right skin care products for your new routine if you take proper food and maintain your healthy eating atoms in daily life routine. If you buy the wrong product, it can do more harm to your skin than good. Most people also don't realize that drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly also helps their skin. You already know that you are supposed to drink water each day to stay healthy. But water is also good for your skin on the outside as well as the stuff on the inside. If you don't have your daily recommended amount of water, your skin will not be as healthy or moisturized as it should be. Water helps your skin fight the bacteria, toxins and other things that clog your pores by flushing the skin. You also know that exercising regularly will make your body strong and will keep it healthy.

Now must be follow some basic beauty tips for looking after your skin: like that, Ultraviolet (UV) rays are contained within sunlight and are the main cause of skin ageing, and in some cases can lead to skin cancer. It is very important that we all protect ourselves from the sun and take special care with babies and children. You can protect yourself by using sun cream, wearing protective clothing and remaining out of direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day, and 2nd most important thing that reduce of smoking because most of time your skin's natural elasticity by causing a breakdown of collagen. This causes wrinkles to develop and alters the complexion of the skin, making it appear much older than it actually is. The best thing is to stub out the habit for good and Chemist Direct has a range of products and tips to help you quit smoking.

Link Between Hormone In Birth Control Shot And Memory Loss

The birth control shot Depo Provera offers a convenient alternative for women who don't want to remember to take a daily pill. Ironically, research from Arizona State University has shown the shot actually may impair a person's memory.

The ASU study connects medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), the hormone active in Depo Provera and many widely used menopausal hormone therapies, to impaired memory in rodents. The study is currently in press in the journal Psychopharmacology. An early on line version of the article is available here.

The study was led by Blair Braden, an ASU psychology doctoral student, and Heather Bimonte-Nelson, an ASU associate professor of psychology and director of the Bimonte-Nelson Memory and Aging Lab. The work was done in collaboration with Laszlo Prokai from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, Fort Worth, Tex., and Alain Simard from Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix.

The Bimonte-Nelson lab first linked MPA to memory loss in rats while studying it as a component of hormone therapy for menopause. This earlier study showed that MPA impaired memory in menopausal-aged rats, and results were published in the November 2010 issue of Neurobiology of Learning and Memory. The current study specifically looks at the drug in relation to the birth control shot.

Bimonte-Nelson said she and Braden began asking questions about the effects of the drug because Braden was concerned about friends taking MPA as a contraceptive.
"This is an important question, because what we are going to have in our future are women who are menopausal that also have a history of taking MPA as birth control when they were younger," said Bimonte-Nelson.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration originally approved Depo Provera for use in October 1992. It requires an injection every 12 weeks. Its 99 percent effectiveness and the infrequency of doses make the shot an attractive alternative for women seeking to avoid pregnancy.

While other studies have examined Depo Provera's effects on bone density, Bimonte-Nelson's lab is the first to explore its effects on cognition. The researchers note that other forms of hormonal contraception, such as the pill, do not use MPA.

The study lasted approximately one year, using three groups of rats (which received doses at varying ages), plus a control group that did not receive the hormone. To test their memory, rats were placed in water-based mazes to swim and seek out hidden platforms in the water.

"What we found was pretty shocking - animals that had been given the drug at any point in their life were memory impaired at middle age compared to animals that never had the drug," said Braden. "We also confirmed that in the subjects that only received the drug when young, the hormone was no longer circulating during memory testing when older, showing it had cleared from the system yet still had effects on brain function."

The researchers also measured a marker of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmitter system in the hippocampus of the rats' brains to determine MPA's physiological effects.

"What GABA does is slow the brain down," Braden said. "So if there is too much of it, it can make it more difficult to produce memories. But then if there's too little of it and there's too much excitation, same thing - it makes you not able to produce memories correctly."

The group plans to follow the animal studies with human trials, and the work is leading to results that could have profound implications for women of all ages.

"This research shows that even after this hormone is no longer on board, months and months later, resulting effects are impacting the brain and its function," Bimonte-Nelson said. "This work is an important step forward in our understanding of the potentially long-lasting effects of clinically used hormones on brain function. However, more research is needed to determine whether these effects also occur in women that take this hormone as birth control or part of hormone therapy."

No Mortality Benefit For Older Women Found In Vitamin D Study

A study of postmenopausal women found no significant mortality benefit from vitamin D after controlling for health risk factors such as abdominal obesity. The only exception was that thin-waisted women with low vitamin D levels might face some risk. The results agree with advice issued last year by the Institute of Medicine that cautioned against vitamin D having a benefit beyond bone health.

Doctors agree that vitamin D promotes bone health, but a belief that it can also prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease and other causes of death has been a major health controversy. Consistent with advice issued last fall by the Institute of Medicine, a new study finds that vitamin D did not confer benefits against mortality in postmenopausal women after controlling for key health factors such as abdominal obesity.

"What we have is clinical trial evidence that for the most part vitamin D doesn't seem to be helpful for conditions where people thought it might," said study lead author Charles Eaton, professor of family medicine and of epidemiology in the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a physician at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, R.I. "The best we can tell is that there isn't an association. Once we took into account these other factors, high levels didn't provide a benefit and low levels didn't put you at risk."
In the study, published online Oct. 26 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Eaton led an analysis of data from 2,429 postmenopausal women aged 50 to 79 who participated in the broad-based Women's Health Initiative study, in which Eaton and many co-authors were investigators. They tracked blood levels of vitamin D in the women and their mortality over a 10-year period. They not only looked at death from all causes but also focused on cancer and cardiovascular disease.

In all, 225 of the women died, including 79 from cardiovascular disease and 62 from cancer.
Eaton said he expected to find some protective effect against such mortality from vitamin D, and at first glance - controlling only for age, ethnicity, and whether women took part in a calcium and vitamin D supplement trial - that's what the data showed. But what was apparent in the data was that the women with the lowest levels of vitamin D also had a lot of other negative health indicators. The team therefore controlled for several more key health factors, such as smoking, history of cardiovascular disease, history of cancer, alcohol consumption, and waist circumference. The additional controls, especially waist circumference, which is a measure of abdominal obesity, eroded the statistical significance of vitamin D's seemingly protective effects down to nothing.
The one exception was that women with thinner waistlines (less than 35 inches) and with the lowest vitamin D levels seemed to have a greater risk of "all-cause" mortality within the 10-year analysis period. That result, however, was right on the borderline of statistical significance.

"If you are thin, this data suggest that maybe low vitamin D levels are potentially harmful and you should talk to your doctor about what to do about them," Eaton said.

Eaton said he and his co-authors can only speculate about why abdominal obesity was an especially important and powerful factor to control for in their analysis. In the study they note that abdominal obesity is associated with several negative health indicators that may overwhelm any modest benefit vitamin D might have. They also point out that fat tissue can store vitamin D, possibly meaning that women with larger waistlines are storing more of the vitamin than their blood serum levels alone would reveal.

More research into the connections between abdominal fat and the health effects of vitamin D could help resolve the question, Eaton said. He also said that a major new trial of vitamin D supplements and health called "VITAL" is getting underway and will likely inform the broader controversy about what vitamin D is good for.

Diet May Affect Acne After All

Conventional medical wisdom holds that hormones, not diet, are the main causes for the development of acne, particularly during the teenage years. However, some interesting evidence now suggests a possible link between acne and obesity driven by eating a high-glycemic load diet. A recent review published in August in the dermatology journal Cutis indicates that acne may be promoted by the same kind of diet that triggers insulin resistance, a condition that can develop when the normal amount of insulin secreted is not sufficient to move glucose into the cells, causing an increase in both insulin and blood sugar levels.

High insulin levels (hyperinsulinemia) affect the production of androgens (male hormones) and insulin growth factor 1, a hormone similar to insulin. Together these two changes can increase production of sebum, an oil secreted in skin that plays a key role in the development of acne. So far, no studies have shown a direct link between acne and obesity, but some dermatologists are recommending that patients avoid foods that rank high on the glycemic index as a possible means of helping control acne. The study also noted that dairy foods have been associated with acne.

Ovarian Cancer Spread Fuelled By Abdominal Fat Cells

Fat cells in the omentum, a large fatty pad of tissue that drapes over the intestines in the abdomen, fuel the spread of ovarian cancer by providing nutrients and energy for rapid tumor growth, according to a new study published online in Nature Medicine at the weekend.
Study author Ernst Lengyel, professor of obstetrics & gynecology, the University of Chicago, told the press:
"The cells that make up the omentum contain the biological equivalent of jet fuel. They feed the cancer cells, enabling them to multiply rapidly."
He explained that the fatty tissue of the omentum is extraordinarily rich in energy-dense lipids, which provide a "lauching pad" and energy source for ovarian cancer cells, enabling the spread of this lethal disease.
Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in women, and it tends to spread to the omentum as opposed to distant organs. For the vast majority of women, by the time their ovarian cancer is diagnosed, it has already spread to the omentum, and tumors here often become bigger than the original cancer:
"Currently, it is unclear why tumor cells preferentially home to and proliferate in the omentum, yet omental metastases typically represent the largest tumor in the abdominal cavities of women with ovarian cancer," write the authors.
To try and find out more about the role of these fat cells in fuelling ovarian cancer spread, Lengyel and colleagues carried out a series of experiments using ovarian cancer cell cultures and live mice.
When they injected ovarian cancer cells into the abdomens of healthy mice, the cells took only 20 minutes to reach the omentum, showing they find their way there very quickly.
The researchers discovered that adipokines, a type of cell-to-cell signalling protein, inside the omentum were attracting the ovarian cancer cells. When they blocked these signals, the attraction reduced by at least 50%. In their paper they describe what they found:
"... primary human omental adipocytes promote homing, migration and invasion of ovarian cancer cells, and ... adipokines including interleukin-8 (IL-8) mediate these activities."
Once the cancer cells reach the omentum, they immediately set about making the tools that will enable them to make use of the nutrients and energy in the fatty tissue: they even reprogram the fat cells' metabolism to enable the "direct transfer of lipids from adipocytes to ovarian cancer cells".
In culture, the researchers found that the cancer cells also appear to be able to use the fat cells as a source of energy:
"... coculture induced lipolysis in adipocytes and [beta]-oxidation in cancer cells, suggesting adipocytes act as an energy source for the cancer cells."
It does not take very long for the cancer to transform the entire omentum into a solid mass of cancer cells.

Lengyel and colleagues discovered that a fatty acid binding protein, FABP4, which transports fat, may be very important to this process and could be a potential target for therapy.

They discovered this when they compared cells from primary ovarian cancer tissue to cells from tumors at the migration sites in the omentum.

They found the cancer cells next to the fat cells in the omentum produced high levels of FABP4, whereas cancer cells that were far away from the omentum fat cells did not produce any.

They showed that inhibiting FABP4 drastically reduced the transport of nutrients from the fat cells to the cancer cells in the omentum. It also slowed down the growth of tumors and their ability to generate new blood vessels.

"FABP4 deficiency substantially impaired metastatic tumor growth in mice, indicating that FABP4 has a key role in ovarian cancer metastasis," they conclude.

Lengyel and colleagues suggest fat metabolism may also be a factor in other cancers where there is a rich source of fat cells, such as breast cancer. And in the case of FABP4 specifically, it may be implicated in cancers that develop in the abdomen, and therefore:

"... FABP4 emerges as an excellent target in the treatment of intra-abdominally disseminating tumors, which preferentially metastasize to adipose tissue such as ovarian, gastric, and colon cancers."

Funds from the National Institutes of Health, the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, the Committee on Cancer Biology at the University of Chicago and Bears Care, the charitable beneficiary of the Chicago Bears Football Club, helped pay for the study.

Laparoscopic Excision Surgery For Endometriosis Frees Patients From Chronic ...

Almost 10 million American women of childbearing age are affected by chronic pelvic pain, gastrointestinal and urinary tract difficulties and infertility due to endometriosis, a strange condition, in which cells normally forming the lining of the uterus (endometrium) start colonizing other organs and tissues beyond the uterus. This year's annual meeting of gynecologic laparoscopic surgeons explores endometriosis from both the patient's and the physician's perspective in a Keynote session (8:00 to 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 8) at the 40th AAGL Global Congress of Minimally Invasive Gynecology that takes place from November 6 to 11, at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, FL.

Keynote speaker and women's health advocate Padma Lakshmi, an international supermodel and TV show host, who co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America to encourage research to help other women to avoid her ordeal, declares: "Endometriosis is one of the most treatable, but least treated of women's health problems. Like me, many women suffer debilitating pain and other symptoms for as long as a decade before receiving an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment."

Many women suffer silently or use painkillers, sometimes for years. Because pelvic pain can have many different causes, including appendicitis, bowel obstruction, ovarian cysts, pelvic inflammatory disease, diverticulitis, ectopic pregnancy, fibroids, IBS and many others, correct treatment can often be delayed further, as endometriosis is sometimes not immediately diagnosed.

For example, in women with endometriosis on the intestines, symptoms may prompt a physician to suggest GI tests, which will not reveal the true problem.

Lakshmi continues saying: "If a woman wants to have children, it's critical to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. Endometriosis is one of the top three causes of infertility. Many women are delaying childbearing into their 30s and even 40s these days, but if you have had untreated endometriosis for many years, it may be too late. And that is a real tragedy."

The currently most effective treatment is laparoscopic excision surgery as alternative medical therapies for endometriosis are extremely limited.

Although the cause of endometriosis is unknown, researchers suspect a strong genetic component, as daughters of women suffering from the condition have a seven times higher risk of developing the disease themselves. During the AAGL meeting, members will present research on abnormal expression of Homeobox (HOX) genes (2:45 PM, Tuesday, November 8) in both the uterine lining and in the lesions of women with endometriosis. Homeobox genes play a major part in cancer and infertility. A better understanding of these genes could explain how and why endometriosis develops.

Colon Cancer Prevention: More Fruits and Vegetables, Please

Researchers in Australia are reporting that different foods affect the risks of cancer in different parts of the colon. The investigators found that consumption of broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables (cauliflower, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and turnips) seems to reduce the risk of cancer in the upper colon. Total fruit and vegetable consumption was associated with a decreased risk of cancer in the lower part of the colon - and eating a lot of apples and yellow vegetables also appeared to significantly reduce the cancer risk in that area.

The study, which included more than 1,000 men and women with no history of colorectal cancer, also found that drinking a lot of fruit juice was associated with an increased risk of rectal cancer. They tracked food intake among the study participants via extensive nutritional questionnaires. The study appears to be the first to look at the effects of diet on the risk of cancer in different areas of the colon. The study was published in the October issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

Strengthen your mental health

In this modern age of world, people are getting so disappointed through the daily problems they facing in their life, and pay much more attention to their physical health than mental health, since physical health is easier to be focused through healthy foods to get it. We should concern that mental health is a big necessity for human's health. Are we truly doing everything in our power to understand mental illness? Are there enough resources to provide that education.

For most of the people, mental health is generally the fundamental attitude and strategies to life. There are lots of treatment options available so there is no reason to continue to suffer from mental illness unnecessarily. Good mental health means appreciating your achievements and accepting your shortcomings. Students with good mental health can obtain an all-round educational experience that lead to self-confidence and better grades. However, those with mental illness have difficulty to keep a healthy relationship with others. Mental illness also makes it very difficult to work well. Lethargic, less productive and improper behaviors are the common symptoms. People with mental illness will hold their rather hard than people with good mental health. Finding comfort in food is something we all do from time to time. But people with mental illness will find it hard to control themselves on eating, which is eating disorder. In a further step, unhealthy figure, obesity and depression come along. For mental health professionals, the mainstay of treatment for psychotic illness is¡ÂȘas it has been for over half a century¡ÂȘantipsychotic medication. Physical health can have a large influence on a person's mental health, and also maintain their healthy eating foods in daily life routine,

A person who is not in good physical condition have a tendency to feel more self-conscious of their selves or even have less confidence in their selves. The role of inpatient services in promoting and maintaining physical health is also important. Nutrition is as vital on a psychiatric ward as on any other inpatient unit. Having meals regularly and be on a healthy diet is the first resource of good nutrition. If you have a mental niggle, a mind block or something that's causing you anxiety then I recommend finding an expert to help you fix it before it becomes a real problem. It is easier said than done or get though some health and fitness tips adopt at regular base, because we are only human and tend to be ruled by emotions. Just keep healthy both on mental and physical since they are interacted. The price of good mental health must be a lifetime of good physical condition.

Understanding Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

For the majority of women, carrying a child is the greatest blessing one can ever experience. It is a joyous time for both expectant parents because it is a celebration of another life. Even though a lot of women go through discomforts while pregnant, these are quickly managed since most of these minor pains ease off typically right after the first trimester. Unluckily for a couple of women, pregnancy is considered a problematic time because of complications that need a whole lot of attention and consideration. And one particular common complication of pregnancy is gestational diabetes mellitus or GDM, also known as gestational diabetes in pregnancy.

Gestational diabetes mellitus is defined as glucose intolerance that affects pregnant women. It occurs in around 4 percent to 10 percent of women that are pregnant and often goes away after delivery. Women who are likely to suffer from GDM are the following: pregnant women who are obese, women who are 25 years and older, women who have history of GDM with previous pregnancies, history of giving birth to a big baby (usually 9 lbs. or more) and family history of type 2 diabetes.

The symptoms of gestational diabetes mellitus are usually ignored because they are confused with the normal discomforts of pregnancy. The most prevalent symptoms of gestational diabetes are: increased frequency of urination, increased thirst and increased hunger. However, there are tests available in order to know whether these symptoms are brought about by hormonal imbalances that normally occur during pregnancy or if these are already signs of gestational diabetes mellitus.

Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) measures the response of insulin to glucose loading. This type of procedure is typically done during the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy. This gestational diabetes test necessitates the pregnant woman to fast at least eight hours before heading to the lab. Later on, she will be requested to consume a sweetened liquid with 50- to 200-g of sugar. A small amount of blood sample will then be extracted at .25, 1, 2 and 3 hours intervals. Gestational diabetes mellitus is confirmed if the 2-hr value is 200 mg/dL or greater.

Being healthy is always a priority when one is pregnant. It's worthwhile to have regular checkups so that your doctor can keep track of your condition and try everything that's possible to help you and your little one become satisfied and healthy.

Unveiling The Causes Of Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes or GDM is a type of diabetes that affects only pregnant women, typically during the second trimester of pregnancy. About 4 to 10 percent suffer from this condition, making it one of the most common concerns of expectant mothers. Gestational diabetes can indeed be hard to understand but to simply put it, it means that a person has unusually high levels of sugar in the blood, thus the term "high blood sugar".

One of two conditions occurs in gestational diabetes. Possibly, there isn't sufficient insulin in the blood or the body is not responding to insulin as necessary (also called "insulin resistance"). Insulin is a hormone that is vital in regulating carbohydrate (glucose) and fat metabolism in the body. It pushes the body to take up glucose (sugar) from the blood in order that the liver can store it as glycogen. Small amounts of insulin or insulin resistance both lead to the same thing – sugar is not taken up and thus accumulates in the blood.

It is also believed that certain pregnancy hormones place pregnant women at risk for developing such condition. Human Placental Lactogen, cortisol, estriol, and progesterone are pregnancy hormones that are thought to hinder insulin from doing its job. If the body becomes resistant to insulin, blood sugar levels rise. To compensate for such increase in the amount of glucose in the blood, the pancreas tries to produce more insulin. The pancreas has its limits though. If the pancreas cannot keep up with the increased demand for insulin, the sugar levels rise and gestational diabetes occurs.

Some other risk factors that can make women susceptible to GDM are: being overweight, family history of diabetes, previously giving birth to a big baby (usually 9 lbs or more in weight), having gestational diabetes with previous pregnancies and having too much amniotic fluid (termed as "polyhydramnios").

Most people may find it hard to understand the causes of gestational diabetes. But keep in mind that as a mother, you can always do something to counteract the causes of gestational diabetes. Proper diet, exercise and regular prenatal check-ups are just some of the things you can do to make sure that you and your baby will have a healthy, stress-free, and fun-filled journey together.

Simple Tips For An Effective Weight Loss Plan For Women

Men and women are as different as night and day, so practically nothing can be exactly identical between the two of them, including weight loss planning. A weight loss plan for women somewhat uses a different approach when it comes to losing weight. For women, weight reduction is a challenge not just because the excess weight spring from not having enough discipline. The excess weight likewise is the result of the physiological changes that occur in a woman's body as she gets older. Read on for some no non-sense tips for an effective weight loss plan for women:

1. Set your goals, both long-term and short-term. Goals must be simple, concise and attainable. Because women are the busiest people on earth, listing down one's objectives can assist her in her aim for weight loss.

2. Find yourself a support group. A weight loss plan for women will mainly depend on individual discipline and dedication. But women are usually happier and more inspired when with friends. Surround yourself with people who have healthy lifestyle habits and choices to have the encouragement and the emotional support that you need.

3. Introduce changes one step at a time. Certain changes may require more adjustments than others. Since women have swift changes in mood as they age, hence, they tend to be more upset very easily. Try the simpler ones first, after which you can move on to the next. This way, you will not become too overwhelmed which could affect your motivation to lose weight.

4. Increase your physical activity. As far as losing weight is concerned, men choose to strive at the gym whereas women would rather go on a diet. However, in order to use up some calories, one will need to exercise. You can begin with easy workouts first. As a matter of fact, 20 minutes of walking can do miracles. Take it light and easy at first then go higher as you step forward.

5. Lower your calorie intake. Food cravings are very common among women and hormonal imbalance is usually the culprit. A weight loss plan for women is not about crash diets. It has more to do with making appropriate food choices and alternatives.

A weight loss plan for women is fairly simple. It accepts the fact that women are uniquely different from men. Start laying down your targets now and work on your aim to a leaner, healthier body.

The Concept Guiding Every Online Weight Loss Plan

The theory behind weight loss is quite simple. Losing weight, however, is another story. A lot of people go to their computers to obtain an online weight loss plan that is genuinely useful. But whichever online weight loss plan you end up choosing, the theory behind every weight reduction plan is always the same. The body weight of a person is determined by the amount of energy taken in (the calories in food and drinks) and the amount of energy that is used up (burned). There are three simple concepts to remember:

1. If the amount of calories eaten is equal to the amount of calories used up, the body weight of an individual stays as it is.

2. If the amount of calories consumed is greater than the amount of calories burned, the individual puts on weight. The extra calories are converted to fat and are stored in the body.

3. If the amount of calories consumed is less than the amount of calories burned, the person sheds weight. The body uses the extra fat to get the energy that it needs.

In short, the body needs a calorie deficit in order to reduce weight. Calorie deficit is made achievable by eating less and moving more. Certainly, the idea behind weight loss is just not that complicated. And yet, as said earlier, shedding weight is a totally different story.

Every single weight loss plan, in essence, states the same thing - motivation is a key factor in losing weight. That being said, it is pretty clear that not a single online weight loss plan will work if the person has no serious desire to drop weight.

Next, almost every online weight loss plan will tackle about having a well balanced diet. All these weight reduction programs do not really demand individuals to consume less food but alternatively, ask them to take in fewer calories through healthy food substitutions.

Last but not the least, practically all online weight loss plans will stress the value of increased physical activity. Experts suggest to enhance an individual's exercise levels bit by bit right until one can already endure more challenging ones.

Losing weight, indeed, is not as easy as it looks. A person may head for an online weight loss plan once in a while for suggestions. However, bear in mind that a highly effective weight reduction program begins with a strong motivation to change one's way of living.

Thousands of people are quite crazy about weight loss. For most people, the purpose of shedding some pounds is to look good, and of course, to be healthy. When these individuals see the gorgeous models in magazines, they wonder if it's quite possible to look like them. So they decide to start on all types of dieting, pills, and even surgey to drop some weight quickly. Following a fast weight loss plan that makes use of drastic methods to lose weight can be really dangerous, so use caution.

The main purpose of crash dieting is to lose weight fast. If you're intending to include crash diet as part of your fast weight loss plan, think one more time. Going on a crash diet means that you have to eat no more than 1,200 calories per day. Although it can make you lose weight really fast, the effect will just be short-term. One explanation for this is that, over the course of crash diet, the weight loss does not really come from losing the fats. The fast results are mainly due to dehydration. So the moment you start to eat again, the body will compensate for the loss by absorbing more water. This causes a person to be bloated and all the dropped weight will just be gained back.

Weight loss pills are a popular choice of people who really wish to have a fast weight loss plan. Slimming pills can be found in natural or synthetic forms. While it's difficult to make judgment as to their effects, some weight loss pills that have been examined have been discovered to be harmful. Some substances found in most weight loss pills such as amphetamines, sibutramine, rimonabant, phenolphthalein, and phenytoin can be dangerous to your health. So seek advice from a professional first before taking slimming products to make sure that you're taking a safe one.

As far as fast weight loss plan is concerned, could there be faster than weight loss surgeries? Weight loss surgeries usually limit the amount of food the stomach can take. But there are those that work by limiting the amount of food that can be broken down. But remember, as with all operations, weight loss surgeries have their own share of risks and complications. Again, ask your doctor for details before deciding to have one.

For most individuals, a fast weight loss plan is synonymous with crash dieting, taking weight loss pills, or undergoing weight loss surgeries. But consider the pros and cons first before going extreme because losing weight must not be unsafe.
